Whilst tree and flower pollens can be accommodated, over a few seasons, by eating them within honey, we believe grass pollen allergies are best met with Haymax Organic Hay Fever Barrier – Triple Pack – Excellent Value, and bee pollen. What is effective against pollens? Hay fever is an interesting reaction, produced by the body which believes it must ‘battle’ the pollens. Those who don’t suffer from hay fever don’t have this reaction.
In order to overcome hay fever, the idea is to desensitise the immune system to the pollens. We’ve found what works is to ingest pollens on an empty stomach, taken dissolved in a glass of warm water. This simply means stirring in a teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water and drunk on an empty stomach.
When the body then digests the pollens, over time, it comes to recognise the pyramidal pollen structure as not being a threat to the immune system. It can take several seasons to fully overcome hay fever.
What will also help the body come to terms with hay fever is a refining of the diet. This means eating fewer foods high in the following: High salt, low quality fats – including trans-fats, foods high in refined sugars and excess consumption of foods.
What we eat and when we eat it are also important. There is a lot more information available on Pat’s blog.
Another front-line defence for hay fever are herbal teas. Chamomile, nettle, elderflower and other soothing teas such as lemon verbena, lemon balm and marigold are also suitable to soothe the symptoms.
