Wild Rice

Though not a true rice – it is a seed from a reed found in Canada, its flavour and qualities are similar to rice but more chewy and tasty. It’s higher in protein than regular rice and contains several important nutrients and an impressive amount of antioxidants. What’s more, eating wild rice regularly may improve heart health and lower your risk of type 2 diabetes. Cook on its own and put into salads, or cook with brown basmati and serve with curry. Goes particularly well with orange sauces.
